THE WEEKEND RETREAT

We meet on Friday evening at 7 pm,
  • to get to know each other
  • for a multi-media presentation where we learn about dolphins
  • some amazing facts about their anatomy and biology
  • some history of human-dolphin contact
  • how we come to be swimming with these particular dolphins
  • and most importantly, we learn "dolphin-swim etiquette", or
"how to be polite when visiting dolphins in their home.
The Two one-hour Swims
  • Both swims are for one hour.
  • We swim on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7am.
  • A trainer will facilitate two "Pat and Play" sessions, enabling you to touch, caress and even hug a dolphin.
  • We see the dolphins first thing, when they are well rested and curious to see who has come to visit and play with them.
  • Our time in the water with the dolphins is different from a regular "dolphin swim".
  • We do not ask the dolphins to do any pushes, pulls or any tricks.
  • We simply float, dive and play in the water with them.
  • They are free to hang out with us of their own will. We find them to be very curious about us and want to see what we can do and how we will play with them.
  • After our swims we have breakfast at the "Creekside Cafe" at the PPP, then (Saturday only) stay and watch the "Marine Magic Show" - seals, sea lions and dolphins taking part in an educational display.
  • We meet in the afternoons for further discussion, questions and answers, and to look at the hundreds of photos you will take home on a CD.
  • We end our program by 2 pm on Sunday to allow time for anyone who has to travel.
