Dolphin-Assisted Therapy
In 1991, this photo was widely published in America,
accompanying an article that described the success of Joey Hoagland
in his recovery from open heart surgery, after which he had been seriously disabled.
Fonzie the dolphin had taken special care of Joey,
and as this photo shows, Joey regained the use of his body.
Ten years later, Joey Hoagland and his friend, Fonzie.
Joey remains close to Fonzie.
His mother founded and runs Island Dolphin Care,
one of the foremost Dolphin Assisted Therapy facilities in the world.
As described in "Souls in the Sea",
K recieved a series of DAT sessions that proved
to be very effective.
